Texarkana Information Technology Users Group (TXKUG) Charter
Article I - Title
The name of this organization shall be the Texarkana Information Technology Users Group; hereafter referred to as TXKUG.
Article II - Mission Statement
Having the right information at the right time is the key to a company's success. Information Technology professionals are the guardians of those information resources and we make a difference in the success of our company. By sharing our pools of knowledge we make ourselves more valuable to our own company.
Article III - Purpose of TXKUG
1. Create a pool of Information Technology expertise.
2. Provide a consolidated voice of IT consumers to the market.
3. Allow each of us to help one another in the event of a disaster.
4. Draw additional education and technology into the community.
5. Reduce development research cost and time frames.
6. Technology promotion within the community.
Article IV - Membership
The membership year will begin January 1st and run through December 31st. Membership shall be open to all persons interested int the promotion of Information Technology within the community (being defined as the Four State area surrounding Texarkana). TXKUG will be a vendor independent users group. Members are encouraged to participate during the meetings and an invitation to tour a member facility is appreciated. Vendors are not excluded as members but must understand that this organization is not a sales opportunity.
Article V - Meetings
TXKUG will have regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM at the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce unless other arrangements have been made and communicated to the membership. Meetings will be conducted in an informal manner with no strict adherence to rules of conduct other than 1) Reading of previous minutes, 2) Old business, 3) New Business, 4) Next meeting notice, 5) adjournment.
Article VI - Dues
TXKUG is a non-profit organization. Individual membership dues are $20.00 per calendar year. Companies may purchase memberships in blocks of 5 for $50.00. Members are responsible for paying their own meals at the meeting by way of donation. In the event a large balance is developed, meals may be paid for by TXKUG to reduce the balance.
Article VII - Officers
Nominations made by membership and officers elected on a yearly basis via sealed ballots. Terms will last one year. Officers cannot serve more than one year in the same position.
Chairman - Duties to oversee meetings following defined agenda, encourage participation in the groups' activities/discussions, promote the continued success of TXKUG, and coordinate activities.
Co-Chairman - Assists the Chairman during normal meetings and acts as Chairman during the Chairman's absence.
Secretary/Treasurer - Keep and publish notes, verify that membership information is up to date, and ensures that meeting notices are posted on web or e-mailed. Keep track of the money and financial obligations. The secretary and treasurer positions may be excluded from the term limit.
Article VIII - Committees
Charter/Exec Committee - Develop and propose to the membership a charter. Upon acceptance of the charter, this committee will be responsible for making approved modifications.
Article IX - Web Site
WWW.TXKUG.ORG - Will contain updated member list containing each members contact information, meeting announcements, previous meeting minutes, cross reference of expertise, software, and hardware at each location. Members will be responsible for updating their own information. The domain name will be registered on a yearly basis.
Article X - Amendments
Each proposed amendment to the charter shall be voted upon, provided such amendment has first been signed by the proponent(s) and been submitted in writing prior to the meeting.
Adoption of any such proposed amendment shall require a two-thirds majority vote of eligible members present.
